Go By Brooks preparing for festival season 2017

I hope you are looking as much forward to the coming festival season 2017 as we are? Last September we released our CD “Oceans” and while we’re already preparing new stuff in the background, some great gigs are coming up, starting this week. Here is a little summary:

Friday, 16th June 2017 – Luxembourg-City:

We will open the festival season at Luxembourg-City for the “Fête de la Musique”. We will play late at 23:00 at Place du Théâtre.

Saturday, 17th June 2017 – Saarbrücken / Dudelange:

That day we will play twice. As we have been selected to play this year’s “Quattropole Bandtournee”, this means, we will play in 4 cities (Luxembourg, Trier, Saarbrücken, Metz). On Saturday we’ll start with Saarklang Saarbrücken. Showtime is: 13:10 at Max Ophüls Platz.

After the gig we can’t stay that long in Saarbrücken because we have to get to Dudelange for the second gig at the well-known Fête de la Musique Dudelange. We will open the main stage in front of the parish hall this year at 16:30.

Wednesday, 21st June 2017 – Steinfort:

The City of Steinfort is organizing for the first time its own “Fête de la Musique Steinfort” and we are happy to be part of it. Showtime 22:00. We will play in the tent at “Centre culturel Al Schmelz“.

Saturday, 24th June 2017 – Schifflange:

It’s not the first time we’re guests at the big party in Schifflange. This time we’ll play at “Schëfflenger Fest” after National Holiday. Showtime: 18:30.

Sunday, 25th June 2017 – Trier:

This is another one from the 4 Quattropole concerts. We will play at the great “Altstadtfest Trier“. Showtime: 17:00 at the Porta Nigra stage.

Altstadtfest Trier

Wednesday, 26th July 2017 – Esch/Alzette:

We will finish the summer season gigs with a relaxed unplugged gig at K116 Kulturfabrik Esch/Alzette. Always a pleasure.

But after that the year ain’t over :-) We will have a surprise for you in autumn and we will have more interesting gigs for example Nordic Rock at Vianden or a cool support gig at W de Woustviller etc.

Go By Brooks, Golden Hour and Dreamcatcher to play at reopening of “Syrkus”

This is the first post for 2017. Happy New Year by the way :-)

We have been a bit more quiet for a little while and have been working on some new songs lately. However, it’s also time to be on stage again. There are already a few exciting dates on our agenda, take a look here.

Our next performance will happen this Saturday, 28th January at Roodt-sur-Syr for the reopening of the cultural centre “Syrkus”. We are also very happy that two other interesting bands will play that evening, our well-known friends from Dreamcatcher with their celtic Pop/Rock as well as a new promising group called “Golden Hour“, featuring Joëlle Gelhausen, formerly known as front singer of “Angel at my Table” and Alex Engeldinger (Acoustic Message) on guitar/vocals.

Another great event – Charity Festival “Listen to Haiti” – is coming up on 11th February. Save the date!

Go By Brooks warm-up for Scottish band “Little Eye” at Purple Lounge

Next Thursday, 26th November 2015, we will have the pleasure to play a small unplugged gig as warm-up for the Scottish rock-pop band “Little Eye” at the cozy Purple Lounge / Casino 2000 (Mondorf).

Who is “Little Eye“? “Little Eye” have made a name for themselves since winning the Young Scot Awards for unsigned talent in 2011. Their victory led to a contract with the “Waterboys” manager and an earnest YouTube following from their revamp of the song “Monster” by Paramore. Little Eye are known for their singles “Fighting The Future” (2014) and “Choked Up” (2013). The band also featured in the 2014 Isle Of Wight Festival. Last year they opened for “Blondie” in Glasgow.

With their EP “Dreamers” released in early 2015, the group will be closing the year with a debut performance in the Grand Duchy.

Tickets are 7 €. You can order them online here.

Go By Brooks to play on Guy Noel Band album release party

After some nice acoustic gigs and our nice experience with “Mr. Big” frontman Eric Martin on stage last Thursday (here is a little footage by Radio Diddeleng and you’ll find some videos on our Facebook-page), we are looking forward to playing an electric gig again this saturday.

We will be the support act for the Guy Noel Band who will celebrate the release of their new album called “Waimes”:

7th November 2015 • 8 p.m.
De gudde Wëllen (Free Entrance)

Guy Noel has often been on tour as a solo-musician. But he absolutely wanted to record an album with his band which goes more into rock. The title of the album refers to the village where they recorded the album in April: Studio La Chapelle in Waimes / Belgium.

The Guy Noel Band has released its first single “Who’s gonna save you” in 2013 which reached the 1st place on iTunes’ Rock Charts. The German  radio station “Big FM” chose the song for their “Battle Challenge”.

Now in 2015 they have released the new single “Blowing the atmosphere”. It’s one of the 6 songs on the album which will be available this saturday. But it’s already available for preorder on iTunes here.

Guy Noel was also a guest at RTL, Luxembourg national television, yesterday. Click here to watch.

Go By Brooks, Eric Martin (from Mr. Big) and Ron Sexsmith at Singer/Songwriter Night

29th October will be a very special date for us. We have been asked to play at the Singer/Songwriter Night at opderschmelz in Dudelange, together with Eric Martin and Ron Sexsmith. Now you may say: “Ok, but who is Eric Martin?” We’re sure, most of you – except perhaps for the very young among you – know this song. Don’t you? Well, that’s Eric singing, the frontman from Mr. Big.

Eric Martin

Eric Martin’s career started in the end of the 70s in San Francisco as a singer of the band “415”. After having left the band, he continued to write songs and published a solo album in 1985 and 1987 called “I’m only fooling myself”. Then in 1988–89, he created “Mr. Big” together with Billy Sheehan (bass), Pat Torpey (drummer) an Paul Gilbert (guitarist). Mr. Big was very successful worldwide and even after leaving the band in 2002, Eric Martin occasionally performed with Mr. Big and presented his own songs as well as the Mr. Big hit-songs. He was also regularly on tour with his rock band “Scrap Metal”. A new Mr. Big album and tour even saw the light of day in 2011.

Ron Sexsmith

Ron Sexsmith may not be so famous here but the Canadian singer/songwriter won acclaim not only from critics but from fellow performers like Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and John Hiatt, some of the artists that initially inspired Sexsmith himself to become a musician. He started his first band at the age of 14. After moving to the Toronto area he began issuing his own material in 1985 and continued performing while maintaining a day job as a courier. 1991 Ron Sexsmith composed a collection of songs for “Grand Opera Lane”. This helped him to earn a songwriting contract and a recording deal with Interscope Records. He has released 13 albums since then. Sexsmith’s songwriting style has evolved into a unique and timeless blend of classic pop, contemporary folk, and roots-rock idioms.

Ok, so let’s meet on Thursday, 29th October at opderschmelz in Dudelange. Click here to get your tickets.
